Bhubaneswar: In a unique effort to raise awareness and encourage citizens to participate actively in the electoral process and cast their vote, the Government ITI Bhubaneswar, with efforts of the Collector and the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Khurda district, has unveiled a statue of a tortoise, named Oly at Capital High School here Thursday.
The creative project spearheaded by 15 students from the Fitter and Welder trades department created the sculptor from waste metal within a short span of fifteen days. Principal of ITI Bhubaneswar Jeetamitra Satpathy said that Oly, the metal tortoise, serves as a reminder that if a tortoise can ‘vote’, so can every eligible voter. This creative approach underscores the ease and importance of voting, hoping to boost voter turnout and civic engagement. The unveiling of the statue marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to promote electoral participation and highlights the ingenuity and civic responsibility of the students at Government ITI Bhubaneswar
