Bhubaneswar, August 24: The worry of finding hangout zones outside colleges may soon be thing of the past as the state government has planned to open Omfed outlets at various educational institutes in the city along with one at Puri.
The announcement made by agriculture minister Pradeep Maharathy at the 54th foundation day of Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) here Monday cheered the student community.
Maharathy said all kinds of milk products will be made available for students on campus so that they need not have to go out for buying these products.
“Our students go out every day to have ice-creams, curd and other milk products of various brands. We have planned to lessen their difficulties by opening Omfed outlets in colleges from where they will get their requirements,” said Maharathy.
The plan is stated to have been implemented at Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar Autonomous College, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Training, Rama Devi University, Maharishi College of Natural Law and Samanta Chandra Sekhar Autonomous College in Puri.
The outlets will help campus life more comfortable for the students where they can hang out as well as discuss educational matters among themselves. The proposal will be executed soon, the minister asserted.
