Bhubaneswar: OMJAY EV Limited is to begin producing Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the state from July 2019. The state government has accorded it the necessary clearances for manufacture of EVs, Jay Prakash Didwania, the chairman of Bharat’s Group that owns OMJAY EV, has said.
“The plant is being set up at Badachana, Jajpur District with world class facilities and run by the best of experts from this industry. Commercial production will start from July,” he said.
“Our product ‘EeVe’ as the name goes is synonymous with the word EV (Electric Vehicle) has been carved with lot of research and consultation with experts in this field. The product is also unique and robust to suit tastes of our countrymen and women with host of features unique to the two-wheeler industry developed by the best brains of the world,” Didwania said.
The company will manufacture four models in its first phase, which will be available across the country. The company expects to manufacture 15 new models in the future. “We aim to be a dominant player in the e-mobility solutions offering a wide range of products to cater to all age group,” Didwania said.
The company plans to appoint dealers in phases all over the country and the process of dealer selection is on. It looks at 250 dealers in selected states in first phase. Moreover, to ease the buying procedure, the authorities are in advanced stage of signing deals with finance and insurance companies.
