Sambalpur: The driver of a mini truck died after his vehicle collided head-on with a truck at Bada Kundesara under Jamankira Police Station in Odisha’s Sambalpur district, a source said Wednesday.
The deceased driver was identified as Ramji. He hailed from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
The incident took place Tuesday night when a coal-laden truck – that was on its way from Deogarh to Sambalpur – collided head-on with the mini truck carrying pan masala near Bada Kundesara, the source informed.
According to the source, both trucks caught fire following the collision in which the driver of the mini truck was charred to death.

On being informed, police and Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and doused the flames.
The helper of the mini truck sustained critical injuries. He was admitted to a hospital in Sambalpur district.
However, the driver of the coal-laden truck fled the spot following the mishap.
Police have registered a case and launched a probe into the mishap.
