Nimapara: One man was arrested Sunday on charges of attacking a couple here Saturday night under Nimapara police limits. The accused was identified as Surya Narayan Nanda of Bishnupur village.
According to sources, one Prasanna Parida and his wife were on their way home in an autorickshaw when near Bishnupur Chhak the accused Nanda halted their vehicle and tried to extort them. When Prasanna refused to pay, an angry Nanda verbally abused him and, his wife and later, physically assaulted them. Prasanna lodged a complaint with Nimapara police late Saturday night and a case (20/19) was registered in this regard.
Police Sunday arrested Surya and forwarded him to court.
