Bargarh: A labourer died and 15 others were injured as a pick-up van carrying them met with an accident near Ghess near Sohela on Bargarh-Nuapada road in this district Wednesday night. The deceased was Kadam Sunani of Lakhana village in Nuapada district.
The injured have been admitted to Bargarh district headquarters hospital and Padmapur hospital.
Sources said an agent was taking some labourers of Nuapada and Bolangir to Deogarh in a pick-up van to engage them in the work of making Kenduleaf bundles. The 25 passengers comprised the middleman, two drivers, six children and 16 labourers.
While the passengers were asleep, the driver of the van lost control on the wheels and the vehicle dashed against the bridge wall.
