Baripada: A person was killed and six others including two children sustained critical injuries after lightning struck them near Bangiriposhi at Khadikasula village in Mayurbhanj district Friday.
According to reports, the lightning struck the victims when they had taken shelter inside a house due to heavy rainfall on their way to Bangiriposhi this morning.
While one died on the spot, six others were admitted to the nearby hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Centre has issued lightning alert for Sundargarh, Sambalpur and Mayurbhanj districts. The people of the three districts have been advised not to step outside their houses till 5 pm.
