BHUBANESWAR: Weddings are events that need a great deal of planning and arrangements. To ease the tension of families planning to celebrate their children’s marriages, Dreamz Creations (DC) is organising the fourth edition of Odisha Wedding Expo at a city hotel here from September 28 to September 30.
The Expo that opened Friday has more than 80 stalls featuring wedding consultants, furniture, photographers, artificial and bridal jewellery, cosmetics to bridal trousseau and wedding cards among others.
North Bhubaneswar MLA Priyadarshi Mishra opened the Expo which is the second of its kind this year. The earlier one was organised in March. Padmalaya Rath of DC said that since wedding is a seasonal thing, “we have decided to organise two expos in a year so that people can plan the weddings well in advance.”
Talking to Orissa POST, Jyotiranjan Mohapatra said that this time out of 80 stalls, more than 40 stalls have been taken by designers and sellers from outside the state. These include boutiques and jewellery stalls. This year luxury watch brand Helios has its presence at the Expo.
Rinita Mukherjee of Polka Dots is exhibiting her wedding saris collection from different states such as West Bengal, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. She has come here for the second time. She said, “I am presenting a variety of combinations like linen saris with Kesar, several Banarasi saris and a variety of silks.
A soon-to-be bride Alpana Das who arrived at the venue with her family members said, “I have already bought a wedding sari and some bridal jewellery for myself. Thanks a ton to the organisers, all wedding needs are available at one place.”
While Gunjan has Tehri designer cards, a clothesline boutique from Kolkata, ALBARI, has bride and groom trousseau. Boutique owner Arifa Akhter says people come with specific shopping ideas for bright bridal wear or grooms wear. ‘‘So, we are a one-stop solution for every bridal wear. The response is overwhelming” he said.
