OPD service suspended at Rourkela Govt Hospital after patient tests positive for COVID-19

Rourkela: After a person tested positive for COVID-19 in Rourkela Government Hospital, the hospital administration has suspended the Out Patient Department (OPD) service of the hospital till July 15.

RGH director Dr Sudharani Pradhan informed that non-essential elective surgeries have been postponed and advised patients not to visit OPD. However, emergency cases are being allowed to enter the hospital premises.

With eight fresh COVID-19 cases detected Sunday, the total tally in the district reached to 668. However, a total of 209 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the virus while 457 patients are still fighting with the disease at dedicated COVID-19 hospitals.

Notably, the Rourkela district administration had declared a weekend shutdown in the Steel City keeping in mind the surging COVID-19 cases in Rourkela of Sundargarh district. The weekend shutdown (Saturday, Sunday) in the city will continue till July 31.

The weekend shutdown had been enforced from July 11 (Saturday).
