Bhubaneswar: The railway protection force (RPF) of East Coast Railway (ECoR) has arrested 19 persons and seized about 728 railway e-tickets valued at Rs15,21,670 during surprise raids at more than 20 places against illegal e-ticketing business.
The RPF under command of IG and Principal Chief Security Commissioner Raja Ram has conducted surprise raids against illegal e-ticketing business.
The raids were conducted in East Coast Railway’s jurisdiction covering Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Chattishgarh.
These raids are a part of nationwide crackdown under ‘Operation Thunder’ against illegal e-ticketing and touting activities in Bhubaneswar, Puri, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Brahmapur, Kantabanji, Rayagada(in Odisha), Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam (in Andhra Pradesh) and Mahasamund (in Chhattisgarh).
ECoR sources here said several incriminating materials, including cash, modems, computers and other accessories, worth more than Rs 5 lakh were seized during the raids.
