Bhubaneswar, August 7: Orissa players performed splendidly and dominated the show completely by emerging champions in five categories of the AITA-OTA Talent series tennis tournament, which concluded at the Kalinga Stadium here Friday.
In the U-16 boys’ singles final, Aditya Satpathy of Orissa edged out Ashis S Sinha of West Bengal 6-4, 7-6(8) to emerge champion. It was a closely fought encounter, but in the end Aditya prevailed.
In the girls’ category, Rutuparna Choudhury overcame a tough fight from Adrija Biswas of West Bengal 7-6 (2), 6-2 to clinch the title. Adrija gave a tough fight in the first set, but in the second one, she was simply no match against the Orissa girl.
In the U-14 boys’ singles category, Kabir Hans of Orissa prevailed over Rishav Brahma of Assam 6-0, 6-3 to take the top honours.
In the girls’ category, Lenien Jamir of Assam thrashed her state mate Raina Zafeer 6-0, 6-1 to clinch the title.
In the U-16 boys’ doubles category, Orissa Duo of Kabir Hans and Abhisek Mohapatra emerged champions. They overcame a tough fight from Aditya Satpaty and Amrutjay Mohanty pair of Orissa 7-5, 7-5.
In the girls’ category, Rutuparna Choudhury and Ameek K Batth of Orissa won the title. The Orissa duo drubbed the West Bengal pair of Punyatoya Mohapatra and Adrija Biswas 6-1, 6-3.
