Cuttack/Paralakhemundi, Dec 8: Even as the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) here has denied reports of leakage of question papers of Orissa Teachers’ Eligibility Test (OTET) held Sunday, Gajapati district police Monday arrested seven persons in this connection and seized Rs 40,700.
Gajapati district superintendent of police Satyajit Nayak said Monday the arrested persons had printed fake OTET question papers and were caught circulating them for money at Tatipiti village under Gurandi police limits of Gajapati district, Saturday, a day before the examination.
The seven were arrested from different villages of Gosani block along with forged answer papers seized from them during raids conducted at various places. During interrogation of the arrested persons it was found they had forged and printed the answer key, misleading and cheating the authorities as well as the candidates of the OTET examination, Nayak said.
The Board of Secondary Education Saturday maintained that there was no leakage of OTET question papers in Gajapati district. “All question papers in the eight examination centres in the district have been found in tact,” the Board had said in a communiqué.
The accused were identified as K Subash, D Subramaniam, Girish Samal, Kishore Samal, Jeetendra Behera, Sushant Kumar Jena and T Kailash, who were booked under section 420, 468, 34 of the IPC along with section 9 of the Orissa Conduct of Examination Act and forwarded to the court, the police said.
