Bhubaneswar: The 38th Convocation of Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT) was celebrated, Saturday, at its campus here.
In his address, Governor Ganeshi Lal emphasized on spiritual development to enhance quality of life. The life can be effectively enjoyed through sacrifice and commitment, he added.
In his convocation address, the Chief Guest S. Ayyappan, Chancellor, Central Agricultural University, Imphal said, “Focus should be on promotion of animal sector to provide food and nutrition for burgeoning population of the country. Agricultural education has an important role to play for development of rural India.”
He impressed upon the graduating students to work for economic development of rural people. He expressed his concern about post-harvest loss of agricultural produce in the country and emphasized on preservation, value addition and processing of agricultural produce to solve this problem.
Pawan Kumar Agrawal, Vice Chancellor of the University presenting the achievement report stated that single cross maize hybrid Kalingraj and cotton variety BS 279 were released by the University during last year. Honorary Doctorate Degree (Honoris Causa) was conferred on P. K. Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of India and Ansuman Das, former Chairman & Managing Director, NALCO.
The function was attended by the Members of Board of Management & Academic Council of the University, former Vice-Chancellor, Deans, Directors, scientists, faculty members, extension specialists, students, parents and their staff.
