Outcast lives under tree with minor daughter

Dhenkikote: Marrying a girl of other caste has landed a man in trouble at Khajuridipani under Dhenkikote outpost in Keonjhar district. Ostracized by the family and villagers, he has taken shelter under a tree with his daughter.

Reports said, Baidhar Nayak (42), son of Nabha Nayak, had left his house 15 years ago in search of work. He married a girl of another tribal community after courtship. The couple has a 12-year old daughter.

Baidhar comes to his house to meet his family members and goes back to his workplace. For the last two years, he has not been keeping well. He came back home with his family last month. But

his kith and kin did not allow him in, saying he had married a girl of different community. In other words, he was ostracized.

Initially, he had taken shelter at his sister’s house at Khuntujhari for some time. However, relatives did not allow him to stay there.

Again he went back to his house, but his family members meted out the same treatment to him.

Then, he, his wife and daughter had taken shelter under a tree in his parental land. His wife has abandoned him, throwing him and his daughter into a miserable state.  Locals demanded the administration to rescue the man and his minor daughter.
