The main purpose of this function is to felicitate outstanding teachers. It also involves collecting the data of low performing teachers by an evaluation process and training them to enhance their capabilities. It also intends to establish a liaison among various schools and teachers. The function also strives to engage teachers in various training workshops.
Contribution of teachers in development of the nation was discussed at the event. Principal Secretary to the Governor of Odisha Madhusudhan Padhi was the chief guest of the function. He felicitated teachers of different parts of the state. During his speech, he called upon Rotarians, members of the club, to eradicate problems faced at the level of primary education. He also urged the club to coordinate with the state government in solving such issues.
President, Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar Royal Pradeep Kumar Dash said, “We know that teachers have the most important role in the moulding of students. This encouraged us to award a few select teachers. This will motivate other teachers to scale new heights. We selected 21 teachers to be felicitated this year. This time we are focussing on education, health and sanitation. Reaching out to the needy people of rural areas is the main component of our goal”.
Chairman of public relations, Rotary Club Bibhuti Bhusan Kar, said, “We organize this event every year to motivate teachers with a good record. We also aim to guide those teachers who are struggling in their field. On this occasion, we are also going to launch a mobile van which can detect cancer. This van will cover rural areas to spread awareness about the chronic disease and its treatment.”
