Over 100 cattle rescued while being trafficked to Kolkata

Angul: Acting on a tip-off, police seized four trucks and rescued over 100 cattle allegedly being trafficked to neighbouring West Bengal near Banarpal in Angul district late Tuesday night.

According to reports, the cattle were illegally trafficked from Athamallik to Kolkata.

Acting on reliable information about the illegal cattle trafficking, a special team of Angul police with help of Banarpal police conducted the raid and made the seizure.

 

During search, police found the cattle in the trucks. On being questioned, the truck drivers failed to produce any reliable documents following which police seized the trucks. A truck driver was detained in connection with the incident, while three others fled from the spot.
