Bhubaneswar: As many 8,83,639 unemployed youths have registered themselves with different employment exchange offices in the state till January 31 this year, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Premananda Nayak said in Assembly, Saturday.
In a written reply to MLA Suresh Kumar Routray, the minister said, out of the total unemployed youths, 23,422 have not completed matriculation (under matric) while 1,95,514 youths have registered for job after completing their matriculation (Class X).
The unemployed youths comprised 3,23,238 intermediates, 1,80,822 graduates, 33,938 diploma holders, 37,861 ITI holders, 9,670 postgraduates, 37,114 trained teachers and 42,060 others with different qualifications, the minister said.
On placement of the registered youths, Nayak said a total of 48,138 persons have been given placement during the period from 2000 to January 31 of this year. Highest 6034 youths got placement in the year 2009 while only 83 persons recruited in the year 2020 and January of this year.
Similarly, 2421 youths got placement in 2000 while 1412 got jobs in 2001, 2601 in 2002, 1529 in 2003, 1760 in 2004, 1908 in 2005, 586 in 2006, 4189 in 2007, 3638 in 2008 and 4481 in 2010.
Besides, as many 3775 youths have been recruited in the year 2011, 3850 in 2012, 2646 in 2013, 1144 in 2013, 1825 in 2015, 770 in 2016, 759 in 2017, 1674 in 2018 and 1053 in 2019.
