Koraput: Acting on a tip-off, police seized more than four quintals of cannabis near Potangi town of Koraput district Friday. Two men were arrested for allegedly smuggling the contraband.
According to Potangi police, the seizure was made from a Koraput bound cow food-laden truck that was coming from Andhra Pradesh side. The cops intercepted the vehicle based on prior inputs and seized 90 sacks of cannabis from the truck weighing 463 kilograms.
The cops added that they had reliable intelligence inputs pertaining to the operation of an inter-state cannabis smuggling gang which smuggled the contraband between Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. This led to timely intervention and seizure along with the arrest.
Both the accused arrested from the truck are from Bihar. The cops are probing both the accused and further investigations are on.
