Balasore: Rabi paddy procurement will start from May 29 in Balasore. The district level paddy procurement committee held a meeting at the office of Collector Ramesh Chandra Rout Thursday.
The meeting discussed various steps for paddy procurement and meeting the target. District civil supplies officer Rabi Narayan Prusty, other officials and millers reviewed the step for procurement process.
Officials laid stress on taking transparent measures in paddy procurement for larger interests of farmers.
The committee has set a target to procure 2, 20, 588 quintal of paddy in Rabi season. The MSP for FAQ paddy has been fixed at Rs 1770 per quintal while average quality is Rs 1750.
The committee has asked the farmers to submit details of their bank accounts, land records for registration within a time frame.
It was decided that more farmers will be encouraged to sell their paddy with quick payment of MSP. Millers were asked to complete procurement in time while storage capacity of warehouses will be fully utilized.
Officials of the civil supplies department and cooperative societies were asked to streamline the procurement system.
