Bhubaneswar: The 15-day painting exhibition Sarbe Bhabantu Sukhina concluded on a high note at Suvadra Art Gallery here Saturday.
Addressing the audience on the concluding day, Cultural Commissioner Manoranjan Panigrahi deliberated on the Jagannath culture and stated that it is not confined only to Odisha but pervades throughout the globe. He said, “It’s a part of the universe.” He lauded the art gallery’s efforts for making the expo a success. “In this age, anybody can explore art from any corner of the world and Suvadra Art Gallery’s industrious efforts have really showcased Lord Jagannath in the best possible hues,” he added.
Income Tax Commissioner Sarat Das graced the occasion as the chief speaker and heaped praises on Odisha’s art and the Jagannath culture. He said, “Both of them have touched the souls of billions.” He admired the art fraternity for its pursuit of perfection and said, “The pursuit is a worthwhile endeavour. They should keep up the good work and must contribute towards development of the Altogether 50 artists from across the country showcased their works in the gallery which drew a huge response from art enthusiasts.
To name a few, Sunil Kuswah’s ‘Mirabai’, Pankaj Varma’s ‘Samarpan’, Chintamani Biswal’s ‘Mastchya Avatar’ and Binodini Behera’s ‘Lord Jagannath as the Sabar Devata’ held the visitors spellbound.
Chintamani Biswal, Laxmidhar Rana, Subhamay Biswal, Sudhasat Mishra, Binodini Behera, Kishore Dalei and Rabi Narayan Rath were felicitated by the guests for their extraordinary works.
Sanjukta Bal, an art aficionado, extolled Suvadra Art Gallery for its relentless efforts to promote art and said, “In the city, this exhibition stands out and is unparalleled. This is second to none.”
Jing Li, a visitor from Taiwan, felt that the brush strokes aptly captured the grandeur of Lord Jagannath and provided a vivid image and insight to the rituals and folk tales associated with him.
Several other guests like Ustha Foundation’s director and renowned painter Jagannath Panda, Lalit Kala Akademi’s secretary Manas Ranjan Jena, Suvadra Gallery chairman Surya Rath, the gallery director Ashok Nayak and Dhauli Art and Craft College’s dean Panchanan Samal were also present.
