Bhubaneswar, April 20: A solo exhibition by artist Arun Kharate hosted by the department of Kannada of Orissa Modern Art Gallery commenced here Friday .
The art expo titled Varnotsava is based on nature and its greenery. The artist, a vet and an assstant professor from Karnataka, said this was his maiden exhibition in Odisha. Kharate has also exhibited his paintings in Mumbai, Hyderabad and many places in Karnataka. The painter tries to showcase the aesthetic aspects of Nature which was portrayed vividly as a life sustaining force. In order to draw content for his paintings, the artist had visited several places in Karnataka and Mumbai.
A self-taught artist, Kharate had used acrylic on canvas for his art. He had showcased beautiful places such as forests and mountains of Bidar and the Gateway of India in Mumbai. He even paid homage to artists like Leonid Afremov of Belarus in a painting wherein he showed a couple passing through a road in the woods which has become popular among artists and critics. Dhauli College of Art and Crafts principal Panchanan Samal and former principal of BK College of Art Alekh Chandra Sahoo were present among others. Samal who lauded the artistic pursuits of Arun said he has portrayed nature’s lyrics with great professionalism and commitment .
