Bhawanipatna: Secretary to Chief Minister, Transformation and Initiatives (5T) VK Pandian Thursday paid a surprise visit at district headquarters hospital here to assess the status of the government healthcare facilities. He also visited Rayagada and Nuapada districts.
Pandian, accompanied by National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) Director Shalini Pandit, visited different wards of the district headquarters hospitals in the district.
A special aircraft carrying the officials landed at 12:15 pm at Bhawanipatna Reserve Field. From there, the team left for the RTO office where Pandian asked people who were waiting in eth queue for their licenses if middlemen are still working in the office to which people replied in negative.
After finishing his inquiry at the RTO office, he along with other officials left for the district headquarters hospital. The team interacted with patients and their relatives in the hospital and inquired about the facilities. The senior officials held brief meetings with district administration officials and doctors. The visit was a part of ‘Mo Sarkar’ initiative launched by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik October 2.
The officials are touring government-run healthcare institutions to get first hand feedback from beneficiaries. Pandian, Pandit and finance secretary Ashok Meena were on a tour to Koraput, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri Wednesday.
