Para-forest employee demands revoking of suspension orders, holds ‘dharna’ with family members

Bargarh: Para-forest employee of Nrusinghanath forest range in the Bargarh division department, Aniruddha Seth has demanded the withdrawal of his suspension order. He has been sitting on a demonstration with his family members including wife Sasmita, daughter Babli and son Bablu at the Bargarh divisional forest officer’s (DFO) office for more than 24 hours.

Aniruddha is a resident of Ghuchapali village of Jharbandh block. He was joined in the dharna by three other para-forest employees – Pradeep Sahu, Paresh Das and Abinash Patnaik.

It should be stated here that a few weeks back a photo of a large number of felled trees in Nrusinghanath went viral on social media platforms. Some of these pictures were picked up by both the print and electronic media.

Immediately after this incident, four para-forest employees including Aniruddha were suspended. It was said that they were responsible for leaking the pictures to the media. However, since then the suspension orders of three have been revoked, but not of Aniruddha.

The sit-in demonstration has been continuing for the last 24 hours in front the DFO’s office. Bablu, a class VIII student and Babli, a class V student, have vowed not to eat, till their father is reinstated. However, in spite of the kids going without food, there has not been any part of the officials to hold a discussion on the matter.

Bhabani Prasad Sahu and Amitabh Patra of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) met Aniruddha, his family members and others Sunday. They urged the district administration to immediately intervene and take corrective measures.
