Nayagarh: In the latest development in Nayagarh’s Pari death case which has been hugging headlines, the pond where her skeletal remains were recovered is to be dried up.
According to a source, the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is investigating into the minor girl’s death case, has directed the Nayagarh police to make arrangements to get the pond dried up.
Notably, the five-year-old girl went missing from her house at Jadupur under Sadar police limits in Nayagarh district June 14. Her body packed in a bag was recovered from a spot close to the pond only 50 metres away from the place where she went missing June 23.
Alleging police inaction, the parents had attempted self-immolation in front of the Odisha Legislative Assembly November 24. The case then resurfaced, creating ripples across the district and prompting the State government to order an SIT probe.
The SIT is drying up the pond for the purpose of evidence collection.
Notably, the SIT had arrested a person of Jadupur village in this much talked case Sunday. A case has been registered under Sections 364, 302, 376 (AB), 376 (A) and 201 of IPC and Section 6 of POCSO Act.
