Parts of Odisha to experience cold wave from December 20

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the Indian Metrological Department (IMD) said Wednesday that the mercury level in interior and coastal districts of Odisha will gradually fall from December 20.

The department’s latest forecast has said that the present temperature level will remain the same till December 20. However, after that there will be a decrease of three to four degrees Celsius in Odisha.

IMD’s regional director HR Biswas informed, “A rise in minimum temperature is observed due to the impact of easterly winds. The temperature currently is 3-4 degrees above normal. There are chances of light rainfall and cloudy conditions in the extreme north-west districts like Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul. Rest of the districts will experience a dry weather.”

He added, “Shallow to moderate fog conditions will be witnessed in some places of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Boudh, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur districts. Similar conditions will also prevail in the coastal and interior areas of Odisha.”

Biswas informed that night temperature will drop by 3-5 degrees Celsius from 19th or 20th December. Even in the state capital, the minimum temperature is expected to decline from the 19th of this month.
