Passengers escape unhurt after bogies of Puri-Sainagar Siridi Express get detached

Puri: Passengers boarded on Puri-Sainagar Siridi Express train had a miraculous escape Monday night when two bogies got detached from one another at Rench Level crossing near Delang in Puri district.

According to information received here, Puri-Sainagar Siridi Express left Jatani for Puri Monday night. At about 10.30pm, its S-5 bogie got separated from S-4 at Rench level crossing, giving a jolt to the train.

Fortunately enough, the train remained on the track and a major mishap was averted. The jolt was so intense that passengers’ belongings fell off the luggage space onto the passengers who in turn fell on each other. However, all the passengers were marked safe, it was learnt.

The railway department later came up with a clarification that the incident occurred as the coupling, which connects two bogies, got damaged.

It took an hour for railway staff to fix the problem before the train resumed its journey for Puri.
