Malkangiri: Tension ran high at MV-19 hospital in the district Thursday after attendants of a patient alleged the authorities of administering expired injection to their patient late Wednesday night.
According to sources, family members of one Gopal Mandal who was admitted to the health centre for treatment of Falciparum-Malaria alleged that he was administered expired injection brought from a nearby medicine store.
“After doctor’s prescription, I brought two injections. By the time we found that the medicines were expired, one of the injections had already been administered to Gopal,” an attendant of the patient said.
Following the incident, family members of the patient and few other locals raised a ruckus inside the medical premises demanding action against the medicine store owner.
Later, Gopal was shifted to the Malkangiri district headquarters hospital. His condition is stated to be normal now.
On the other hand, the accused medicine store owner has refuted selling any expired injections.
