‘Patnagarh’ movie lands in trouble ahead of its release

Patnagarh: An upcoming Odia movie ‘Patnagarh’-based on a real-life incident which claimed the lives of a newly-married man and his grandmother in Bolangir district has landed in trouble ahead of its release.

According to reports, Rabindra Sahu, father of the deceased man Soumya Sekhar, August 16 lodged a complaint with Patnagarh police against the filmmakers.

Speaking to media Sunday, Sahu said, “The producer and director have not informed us before making the movie. It was a great loss for my family and we are still suffering from the trauma. A movie based on the tragic incident has hurt our sentiments.”

Sahu lodged a written complaint against the producer Sridhar Martha and director Rajesh Touchriver.

National Award-winning director Touchriver and Martha had released the first teaser of the film a few days ago.

Bollywood actor Atul Kulkarni and Ollywood star Manoj Mishra will also be seen in the bilingual movie.

While Kulkarni will play the role of Crime Branch IG Arun Bothra, Manoj will do the role of Punjilal Meher – the mastermind behind the blast.

The movie is produced under the banner of Range Royal Cine Lab and is expected to hit screens by Dussehra this year.

Soumya Sekhar and his grandmother Jemamani were killed when he unwrapped a wedding gift February 23, four days after his marriage with Reema Rani. She was seriously injured in the incident.
