Bolangir: Punjilal Meher, the prime accused in the Patnagarh parcel bomb tragedy was Saturday hospitalised after he complained of illness. He has been admitted to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital here where he is undergoing treatment.
Sources said, Punjilal was shifted to Bolangir district jail from Patnagarh sub-jail eight days ago after he attempted escape. Opposing the, he had since been on a hunger strike. The doctors treating him said that the prolonged starvation had created health problems for him.
Meher gained notoriety when he sent a parcel bomb to Sanjukta Sahu’s son who had got married in February 2018. The bomb had gone off when the newlyweds had opened the parcel killing the groom. Police had worked meticulously on the case before arresting Meher in April.
