New Delhi: The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Thursday criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled Union government for arresting former finance minister P Chidambaram and termed the move as politically motivated.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of 75th birth anniversary celebrations of Rajiv Gandhi here, state Congress president Niranjan Patnaik said that the BJP would face the wrath of the people for implicating Chidambaram in a false case. The investigating agency, he said, do not have any strong case against him. The BJP ruled government has framed him with mala fide intention.
Meanwhile, over 100 leaders of Congress from state took part in the birth anniversary celebrations of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium here.
Congress volunteers and leaders including OPCC chief Niranjan Patnaik and all other office bearers in OPCC, panchayat representatives of the party in the state took part in the birth anniversary celebration.
During the celebrations, a documentary, containing information regarding Rajiv Gandhi’s contribution towards nation building especially in the technology sector, was shown to all Congress leaders. According to senior Congress leaders, the move was aimed at making the people in rural as well as urban areas aware about the contribution of Rajiv Gandhi.
