Champua: The government spends crores of rupees for welfare and education of children belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories, but a tribal student of Godhuli under this block of Keonjhar had to quit studies owing to poverty.
The district administration is apparently oblivious of the plight of the tribal boy studying in Class VIII. His parents who had admitted their son in the village school are a worried lot over his decision to desert studies.
Ranjit Naik was a studious child of his parents Karunakar Naik and Kanak Naik who used to eke out a living on daily wages.
However, his parents have become sick and stopped going out for work. His mother sells puffed rice, but the earnings are too meagre to provide two square meals a day for the family. She could not pay for the son’s education.
In view of the tribal family’s financial condition, local have demanded the government’s intervention at the earliest.
