Basudevpur: Alleging irregularities in selection of projects under the Ama Gaon Ama Bikash Yojana, people’s representatives and their supporters from 15 panchayats under Basudevpur block of Bhadrak district launched a sit-in protest outside the block office Thursday. They also locked the gate of the office.
The agitation has led to a stalemate in functioning of the block office. The protesters alleged that some projects were selected with political motivation without taking them into confidence.
A block level- Ama Gaon Ama Bikash programme will be held at AB College here Friday.
Sarpanchs, samiti members and other leaders of Bideipur, Kumarpur, Nuagan, Krushnapur, Sanaskrushnapur, Laxmidaspur and Birasa panchayats warned of staging a road blockade if their demands are not given due importance in the programme.
In the afternoon, the Collector called a delegation of the agitating people to hold talks. Two days ago, these people had agitated on the same issue, but had relented after getting assurance from the BDO.
