PEOs show-caused for tardy pace of PMAY

Odisha makes provisional PMAY beneficiary list public; BJP threatens stir over 'left out families'

Chandbali: Even as the district administration expressed dissatisfaction over the tardy pace of implementation of the Pradhanmantri Awas Yojna for 2019-20 in Chandbali block of Bhadrak, the administration served show cause notices on seven Panchayat executive officers (PEOs), a report said.

The action came days after the project director of the DRDA held a review meeting on the progress of the PMAY. It was warned that if the PEOs fail to furnish satisfactory replies through the BDO within three days, the latter will be taken to task.

As per the letter of the PD, the PEOs – Ajay Bal of Bhuinbruti panchayat, Niranjan Sankhua of Bijaynagar panchayat, Rajanaikant BaL of Dharma and Dosinga panchayats, Rajkishore Das of Kaithakhola panchayat, Kamalakant Kar of Karanpalli panchayat, Rabinaryan Nath of Kheranga and Sanjay Kumar Rout of Bajarapur— failed to meet the target in housing.

Notably, the administration has set a target to build 6,042 pucca houses under PMAY in this block in the current year.

The identification of housing beneficiaries has been started while the first phase installments of the housing funds have been credited into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

As for show-cause notices, BDO Shyamsundar Tudu said since the progress of the PMAY in the above-said panchayats has not been satisfactory, the PEOs were responsible for tardy pace of work and were served show-cause notices.
