Permanent HC bench row: Lawyers hold 3-day strike in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: Sambalpur District Bar Association (SDBA) and senior citizens of the town Saturday launched a three-day cease work protest demanding a permanent bench of Orissa High Court in western Odisha.

The agitating senior citizens and the members of district bar association staged a demonstration at ‘Kacheri Chhak’. Judges were requested to not enter court premises. All the state and central government offices, insurance companies, private companies and banks remained closed throwing out normal life out of gear in the town.

The lawyers have long been staging demonstration, strikes and road blockades to press for their demand.

It should be mentioned here that Kuchinda Lawyers’ Association had undertaken a similar cease work strike for three days at Sambalpur November 28 over the same demand.
