Bhubaneswar: Carrying forward the trend of having original content in Odia movies set by recent releases like Adieu Godard, Daman and Pratikhya, another much-awaited movie is set to hit the big screens May 12.
“The days of copy-paste formula seem to be over as the young filmmakers of today are rejecting the idea. I’m excited to see the viewers’ response to Phalguna Chaitra,” said actor Partha Sarathi Ray, who is playing the protagonist in the movie, at a media interaction programme held here at a City hotel ahead of the release.
Asked about the USP of the project, director duo Peenakee Singh- Sisir Sahu said, “The story is the USP of the movie. It celebrates the core values of typical Odia families.”
On the unusual title, they explained, “The plot revolves around an incident that takes place during February-March which corresponds to the ‘Phalguna-Chaitra’ month of Hindu calendar. We stuck to the latter as such Odia names are gradually fading into oblivion.”
Producer Sakti Jagdev said, “As the present generation is drifting away from our tradition, we have tried to showcase Odia culture, which people in every household would relate to.”
Among others, actors BM Baishali, Ananya Mishra, Bhaswati Basu and lyricists Shtitha Pattnaik and Sumit Panda of the film also spoke to the media.
A presentation by Aadya Jagdev Films, the movie is co-produced by top actor Babushaan Mohanty while Sulagna Mohanty has written the story. Sakti Jagdev is the producer of the film.
Apart from Odisha and other Indian cities, the movie will be released in Australia and talks are on for its release in a few other countries like the UK, the USA and the UAE, said Jagdev.
Ananya Nanda, Rituraj Mohanty, Kuldeep Pattanaik, Gaurav Anand, Aisharwya Kumar have lent their voices to the songs.
Choudhury Jay Prakash Das, Sukanta Rath, Kailash Panigrahi and Chandan Biswal play other key roles in the movie.
