Dhenkanal: In yet another case of political violence in the state, a BJD worker was Tuesday attacked by a group of men in Ambapalas booth under Parjanga Assembly constituency of this district.
The victim has been identified as Santosh Kumar Sahoo of Ramchandrapur lane in Ambapalas.
According to sources, Santosh had a verbal duel with BJP supporter Debananda Sahu near the polling centre which soon escalated to a physical altercation.
Debananda allegedly broke a cold drink bottle and stabbed Santosh around his stomach. Santosh started bleeding profusely and had to be shifted to Parjang community health centre in a 108 ambulance. Later he was shifted to district headquarters hospital as his condition deteriorated.
The situation continues to remain tense here over the incident. Cops have been deployed on the scene and are keeping a close vigil.
