PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION:Chitrabarnali holds viewers spellbound

Bhubaneswar: A six-day annual photo festival Chitrabarnali, organised by Utkal Photography Club (UPC), was inaugurated by secretary of Lalit Kala Akademi Manas Ranjan Jena on the Akademi’s premises here Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Jena said, “Photographers are artists behind the lens whose work is no less difficult than any other profession. They comprehend every emotion before capturing it all in one frame.” He hoped that the fest “would definitely inspire” more people to pursue a career in photography.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lauding the photography club for organising the event, eminent writer and journalist Basanti Das said the exhibition “beautifully captures” the rich culture and heritage of Odisha.

It may be mentioned here that around 141 frames by 40 members of UPC including 21 award-winning pictures were displayed at the event.

The photographs were from various genres such as nature, wildlife, street photography, candid portraits, travel and landscape. The icing on the cake was a series of pictures of Leh – Ladakh which was displayed on a wall, speaking volumes of the natural beauty of the Himalayan landscape.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Founder of the club Shri Krishna said, “Post the success of the events on the occasion of World Photography Day, we expect that this event will further entice people towards photography.” He added that in future they plan to hold photography competition and workshops to train amateurs.

The exhibition will conclude August 26 and is open from 11 AM to 7PM.
