Bhubaneswar: Offline teaching of first-year undergraduate and postgraduate students in different universities and colleges of Odisha, for this academic year, will begin from November 1 and 15 respectively, a Higher Education department official informed Wednesday.
The department’s Principal Secretary Saswat Mishra has written a letter in this regard to the vice-chancellors of government universities and principals of government as well as private degree colleges.
Classroom teaching for the students, who have taken admission for the academic session 2021-22, will start by strictly adhering to Covid-19 safety protocols, Mishra informed in his letter.

It is pertinent to mention, hostel facility will also be made available to the students who are interested to avail it.
Private universities functioning in Odisha under the department may also consider following the stipulated guidelines, Mishra added.
The major guidelines are:
- Face mask will be mandatory for the students and staff.
- Hand sanitisation of students and staff must be ensured.
- Social distancing norms should be followed in classrooms, libraries, laboratories and other places on the premises.
- Spitting inside the premises will be strictly prohibited.
- An isolation room must be kept ready for emergent needs.
