Berhampur: Asha Das, wife of former Berhampur municipal corporation (BeMC) mayor Shiba Shankar Das alias Pintu Das, has joined the BJP.
“I have taken the decision to join politics after holding discussion with the BJP Mahila Morcha leaders and workers who came to my house Sunday,” she said.
Aasha said she was ready to accept any job the party would entrust on her.
Pintu had contested from Berhampur assembly constituency in the 2014 election. Though he had been defeated, he was able to garner a sizeable number of votes.
Entangled in several cases related to criminal activities, he has been in judicial custody.
