Pipili: In view of the rising COVID-19 infections, the Puri district administration decided Friday afternoon that senior citizens and differently abled voters of Pipili Assembly constituency segment will cast their votes through postal ballot in the upcoming bypoll.
This was informed by Additional Collector Pradip Kumar Sahoo.
According to a source, there are at least 1,067 such bonafide voters in the Assembly constituency segment. Senior citizens and differently abled voters would not have to go to polling booths to cast their votes. Designated officials who are to conduct the polling will visit the houses of the voters instead, a senior official stated.

The voting process for senior citizens and differently abled persons will be completed within May 3 to May 7. Postal ballot papers are being prepared for the purpose in Puri district, the senior official added.
Notably, political parties including candidates contesting for the Pipili Assembly constituency seat have been barred from conducting any rally or taking out processions till the end of election process.
