Bhubaneswar: A few hours after miscreants hurled bombs at Biju Janata Dal’s (BJD) district president’s office at Chintamaneswar area here late Wednesday night, a large number of party workers demonstrated in front of Laxmisagar police station here Thursday demanding action against miscreants.
On the basis of a complaint lodged by victim, Hari Samantray, a case (105/19) has been registered against Prasanta Nayak and three other close associates of Jagannath Pradhan— the BJP candidate for Bhubaneswar (Central) Assembly segment, a senior Laxmisagar police official said, Thursday.
Four bike-borne miscreants had hurled bombs at the BJD office before fleeing the spot, the official said quoting an eyewitness. He added that Samantray and a few others sustained minor injuries in the attack.
Talking to Orissa POST after filing the complaint, Hari said that Prasanta had warned him before fleeing the spot that more attacks will follow. “He (Prasanta) said ‘this is just the trailer, the real film will follow soon’,” said Samantray.
Earlier, Wednesday desperadoes hurled three bombs at the local BJP office under Ward No. 48. However, no loss of life or property was reported as the bombs failed to explode.
In another incident which took place also Wednesday, supporters from both BJD and BJP clashed at Niladri Vihar under Chandrasekharpur police limits in which two saffron party workers sustained severe injuries.
Condemning the attack, several BJP workers demonstrated in front of Chandrasekharpur police station around 9.00pm, Wednesday.
