Bhubaneswar: Platinum jubilee celebrations of Bhubaneswar will be held from April 13 to April 15 this year as the city turned 75 years old from its foundation in 1948, Khordha district administration said Thursday.
A preparatory meeting was held in this regard Wednesday at Capital High School’s convention hall which was chaired by Khordha Collector K Sudarshan Chakravarthy.
As many as 75 groups of students from different educational institutions will participate in a parade April 13. Each group will have 32 students donning their respective school uniforms. They will also perform in a cultural programme on the same day, an official said.
Additionally, 13 distinct persons will be conferred with ‘Rajadhani Gaurab Samman’ for significant contributions in their respective fields, the official added.
Schools, colleges, various private and government buildings in Bhubaneswar will be beautified with electric lights.
In addition to that, a cultural programme will be organised by Odia Language Literature and Culture department, the official informed.
Chakravarthy directed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation officials to constitute several sub-committees to organise all the planned activities in an efficient manner.
