BHUBANESWAR: An Odia play Achinha rajya ra manisha was staged by Swetapadma Sanskruti Parivar on its fourth foundation day at Rabindra Mandap here Wednesday.
Khorda MLA Rajendra Prasad Sahoo was invited as the chief guest of the function. He inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp in the presence of play director Mannat Kumar Satapathy and actor Dhirendra Nath Mallick.
Director Santosh Kumar Mohanty, vocalist Nigam Mishra, actress Namita Bhattacharya and Odishi dancer Nupur Priyadarshni were felicitated with Swetapadma Sanskruti Parivar samman.
Achinha rajya ro manisha is a fantasy play which is written and directed by Pradeep Biswal. The play revolves around the characters of Anand Chandra and Ananya. They fell in love with each other. However, when Anand proposes a relationship, Ananya refuses. This didn’t mean she loved him any less. Her decision was based on her religious beliefs. She promised Anand that they will meet again after 250 years. She also promised to marry him after the period. Anand, who loved her very much, waited for her through meditation. Ananya took rebirth after 250 years. She starts searching for Anand frantically. At the end she finds him. However, Anand had turned into a stone by then.
Founder and organiser of Swetapadma Sanskruti Parivar Pradeep Biswal told Orissa POST, “We conduct these plays every year to discover new talent, encourage budding artists and provide them with a platform.
