Bhubaneswar: As many as 85,767 seats have fallen vacant after the admissions for Plus II streams in the 2018-19 academic session was over in Odisha.
According to sources in the School and Mass Education Department, these seats were vacant in about 2,000 higher secondary schools after spot admission.
Though more than 1 lakh seats were vacant after the first and second rounds of admission, the department had asked the students to apply for spot admission through a notification August 1.
While the merit list for the spot admission has been announced August 10, the admission procedure was held between August 11 and 14.
Meanwhile the regular Plus II classes commenced from July 24.
