Mumbai: The biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi will miss its schedule date of release April 5 and may hit the screens a day later. However there is no official confirmation regarding the date of release.
The controversy regarding the biopic started after a number of political parties objected to its release after the dates of the Lok Sabha polls were announced in March. They said the release of the biopic before the polls would violate the code of conduct.
Film analyst Atul Mohan and Komal Nahata tweeted about the postponement of the date, Thursday.
#BreakingNews #PMNarendraModi postponed by a week. To release next week. @vivekoberoi @anandpandit63 @OmungKumar @sandip_Ssingh @sureshoberoi @LegendStudios @ModiTheFilm2019

Earlier, the Bombay High Court had dismissed the petition which sought stay on the biopic’s release. The Delhi High Court had also rejected a petition seeking a ban on the release before the completion of the elections.
The film depicts the various stages of Modi’s life. It includes his early years with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and his long stint as Chief Minister of Gujarat – leading up to the BJP’s victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Vivek Oberoi dons Modi’s coat in the film. The movie produced by Suresh Oberoi and Anand Pandit also stars Boman Irani, Rajendra Gupta, Yatin Karyekar, Prashant Narayanan, Zarina Wahab and Manoj Joshi.
