Baripada: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will visit Baripada January 5, will speak about Haripurgad, the ancient capital of Mayurbhanj princely state, for which a special package has been made by the Centre and the ASI has started work.
This was revealed by Union Petroleum, Oil and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at a presser here Saturday and announced the PM’s itinerary after reviewing the preparation for the programme.
Governor Ganeshi Lal and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik have been invited to the meeting, he added.
After a meeting at Jharkhand, the Prime Minister will arrive at Baripada in a chopper between 1.30 pm and 2 pm.
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stones for a number of projects to be funded by the Petroleum, Oil and Natural Gas Ministry, Union Surface and Transport Ministry, the Railways and the Ministry of Culture in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar and Jajpur.
“A special package has been drafted by the Central government to boost tourism at Haripugad, the ancient capital of Mayurbhanj princely state. It will be recognized as a special tourist destination among others in the country. The ASI has started work and the Prime Minister will proclaim to the world about the glorious past of Haripurgad,” the Union Minister added.
