Poacher held for killing two wild boars

Berhampur: A patrolling squad of the Berhampur Forest Range arrested a poacher and recovered carcasses of two wild boars from his possession Sunday night.

He has been identified as D Dharma of Bahadurpeta village under Sadar police limits in Ganjam district.

According to reports, Dharma was heading towards Gopalpur on his two-wheeler carrying the carcasses of the wild boars. Acting on a tip-off, the patrolling team intercepted him near Biswanathpur Chhak at Tamana.

During interrogation, Dharma confessed of heading towards Gopalpur to sell the meat of the wild animals.

Following the direction of Berhampur DFO Asish Kumar Behera, the forest officials have registered a case and forwarded the accused to the court Monday.
