Poetry, stories galore at open mic lit event

BHUBANESWAR: The Rhyming Cage, a young and new group of literature enthusiasts, organised an event Pukaar on the occasion of Makar Sankranti at KIIT Rd Patia here Monday.

Many writers and speakers spoke out their heart and filled the atmosphere with the fragrance of overwhelming poetries, shayaris and stories at the event.

The open mic event was a platform for young literature enthusiasts to speak out to the world and showcase their talent. Rohit Verma, founder of The Rhyming Cage, said, “The goal of Rhyming Cage is to create a group of writers and provide them with an opportunity to showcase their talent in the world of literature.”

There were around 25 to 30 members present at the event including performers and audience. The event lasted for three hours. Literature enthusiasts deliberated upon a wide range of topics like politics, love stories, heartbreaks, violence on women and other social issues.

“The event wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts of co-founders Sourav Prajapati and Bikash Saraf and the entire organising team members consisting Alisha Mohanty, Ritika Pandia and Rashmita Paleya. Anchor Sushri SP Sudhansubala conducted the event really well. The event was sponsored by Yummy Cake n Bake Shop, Sea Blings, Fab plus unisex salon, Print View and Genuine Broaster Chicken. We are extremely thankful to all the organisers,” he added.

With the support of such literature lovers, organizers would be looking forward to organize more such events to encourage the art of writing.
