Police arrest 2 after seizing over 1kg of heroin in Bhubaneswar  

Bhubaneswar: A special task force (STF) team of the Crime Branch arrested two drug peddlers after 1.025kg of brown sugar were seized from their possession. The two were arrested near Rasulgarh Chowk while the STF was conducting raids following a tip off regarding the presence of drug peddlars in the locality. The two arrested have been identified as Rakibul Laskar and Sudhanya Gayen. The two are residents of North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.

When the two were arrested, they did not have any reason as to why such a large quantity of the contraband was in their possession. They will be forwarded to the court of District & Sessions Judge in Bhubaneswar. STF officials stated that they are putting in special efforts to check inter-state drug peddling. They also informed that the two arrested will be interrogated to find out the links they have in Odisha.

It should be stated here that since 2020, STF in the special drive against narcotics has seized more than 40kg of brown sugar and more than 86 quintals of cannabis. So far more than 100 people involved in drug peddling have been arrested in Odisha.
