Nabarangpur: In a major crackdown Saturday morning, police busted an interstate gang of dacoits in Nabarangpur district and arrested eight persons in this connection, an official source informed.
According to the police official, six of the arrested were identified as Udaya Pujari, Mukesh Patra, Sunil Harijan and Rajesh Nayak from Papadahandi, Sushant Harijan from Kodigaon and Karna Majhi from Pottangi areas in the district. Identities of two others have not been ascertained yet. The gang was looting motorcycles and various other valuable items from Nabarangpur and had been subsequently selling those in Vishakhapatnam of Andhra Pradesh.

The gang was active in Papadahandi, Nabarangpur, Kodigaon and Vishakhapatnam areas. Five motorcycles, a laptop, a desktop printer, two mobile phones, a home theatre audiovisual system, gold jewellery and several other electronic items were seized from their possession.
Acting on an FIR lodged with Nabarangpur police by Vivekananda Sahu July 19 alleging that his motorcycle was stolen, the police launched a probe and seized a number of stolen motorcycles from Papadahandi leading to arrest of the members, the official said.
